COVID-19 Antibody Test Results Chart
COVID-Antibody Test 1 | COVID-Antibody Test 2 | Interpretation |
---|---|---|
Negative | Not Tested | We did not detect antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) in your blood. If you have been vaccinated or if you have recovered from COVID-19, we cannot comment on your current level of immunity; please consult with your personal physician for questions. |
Positive | Negative | These results are expected in a person who has been vaccinated for COVID-19. Rarely, this pattern may be seen in a person who has had COVID-19 but whose antibody response is incomplete. We cannot comment on your current level of immunity to COVID-19; please consult with your personal physician for questions |
Positive | Positive | These results are expected in a person who has recovered from COVID-19, as an infection with SARS-CoV-2 stimulates two different types of antibody. If you have been vaccinated, we cannot determine your response to the vaccine from these results. We cannot comment on your current level of immunity to COVID-19; please consult with your personal physician for questions |
Positive | Not Tested | We regret that your sample could not be fully tested for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID). We can confirm that your result for the Antibody Test 1 was positive for antibodies. Here is what this result could mean: If you were vaccinated prior to your donation and did not have COVID-19, this test indicates that you have antibodies that are most likely due to the vaccination. If you were not vaccinated, the results suggest that you were exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, but without Antibody Test 2, we cannot confirm that with certainty. If you had COVID-19 AND you received the vaccine, this result cannot distinguish between your body’s response to your infection and its response to the vaccine. |
Not Tested | Not Tested | We regret that your sample could not be tested for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). This could have happened for a variety of reasons, including unforeseen testing problems in the lab where these samples are sent, insufficient sample size, or other circumstances |
