At LifeStream, volunteers are an essential part of our lifesaving team. Volunteering at LifeStream is a great way to get involved in your community, make new friends, develop new skills and help make a big difference in the lives of others.
Volunteers perform tasks that support our operations and, most importantly, they contribute to our team by creating a pleasant, educational and comforting experience for donors. Even if you only have a little time, there are many opportunities to volunteer. We know your time here will be a rewarding experience!
Minimum commitment of 4-5 hours depending on the assignment.
Support and help monitor the well-being of donors at the final stage of the donation process by hosting the canteen area. Following donation, donors are required to spend a minimum of 15 minutes in the canteen to begin replenishing their systems with healthy beverages and snacks. But the care and attention given by appreciation ambassadors can also assist in making the following hours safe and enjoyable for donors.
Opportunities for appreciation ambassadors exist at all LifeStream’s fixed-site centers and/or at mobile drives – always at locations convenient for the volunteer. Options also include days, evenings, and weekends.
Carefully pack and deliver coolers of lifesaving units of blood to hospitals in a safe and timely manner to assist patients in need. Whether fulfilling an “everyday” order or one following a sudden, large-scale emergency, deliveries are counted upon by patients, their loved ones, surgeons and trauma personnel to complete the cycle of donation. Deliveries are made in LifeStream company vehicles; fuel and insurance costs are covered by the company. Clean DMV record required.
Opportunities include deliveries on weekdays, weekends and at night.
The blood banking industry is thoroughly and comprehensively regulated by federal, state and local authorities. Inspections and site visits – some announced, some not – examine all business aspects, including detailed, required recordkeeping. Office partners perform clerical duties that assist Product Management, Reference Laboratory, Administration and/or Volunteer Services to retain and easily locate documentation of acceptable practices.
Opportunities available in San Bernardino headquarters and donor center/laboratory.
**Please be advised some of our donor centers may currently have a wait list for new volunteers.**
